JOB SUMMARY
The Director Business Operations for Surgical Services manages and supervises functions of the business, supply, and scheduling needs of the various surgical and procedural departments within the System. The Director is responsible for working collaboratively as a strategic business partner with key members of organizational leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation within areas as assigned.
·Supports the development, implementation, and adoption of standardized key performance indicators related to surgical services
·Oversees and directs the daily business operations at defined departments. Supervises all staff supporting business operations (billing, auditing, data analysts, supply coordinators and perioperative scheduling).
·Serving as a system leader for business operations, advising and collaborating with departmental leaders as they carry out the vision and system strategies
·Facilitates consensus and adoption of key performance indicators and standardized procedures that minimize variation and inefficiencies across the System.
·Works intimately with physicians and perioperative leaders to negotiate optimum value throughout the System
·Assist and support surgical and procedural departments to achieve the key performance indicators
·Manage all departmental billers, auditors, data analysts and perioperative scheduling personnel.
·May also supervise other personnel assigned to specific surgical and/or procedural departments
·Identifies and addresses opportunities for integration and standardization of key performance indicators across the System
·Maintains effective collaboration and communication with the Administrative Director Surgical Services and perioperative leaders regarding issues related to key performance indicators and business practices.
·Provides timely information regarding progress and accomplishments.
·Supports Administrative Director Surgical Services and perioperative leadership in the development and implementation of capital budgets, cost reduction strategies, block allocation and management, and operating budget development and monthly analysis.
·With system and perioperative leadership, works intimately with senior leader and physician to design and develop implementation plans for specified value acceleration initiatives.
·Is accountable at the departmental and system level for project management and timely and collaborative execution.
·Oversees development and maintenance of all dashboards, scorecards and timelines related to the execution of assigned initiatives.
·In collaboration with shared services and perioperative departments, develop and manages all reporting of critical information required to support a complex surgical enterprise.
·Functions as the system and operating unit liaison for all perioperative information systems.
·In collaboration with Associate Chief Support Services, supports the Value Analysis Team for surgical services.
·In collaboration with the Administrative Director Surgical Services and perioperative leaders, ensures that all applicable regulatory and legal standards and policies are met within the scope of the surgical supply chain.
·Ensures appropriate internal and external reporting of both compliance and non-compliance issues arising from surgical supply chain.
·Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum of bachelor’s degree in a related field with 5 years’ experience with surgical/medical materials, contract and surgical charges OR High School/GED with 11 years’ experience with surgical/medical materials, contract and surgical charges required.
· Experience in business operations in a highly complex surgical enterprise.
· Previous experience in leading large scale surgical or other system level projects.
· Proven leadership skills. Ability to organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple, complex projects simultaneously.
· Ability to understand and interpret clinical data
· Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows
