JOB SUMMARY
The Manager of Staffing and Development is responsible for oversight of the NCH Medical Group Float Pool, and the NCH Medical Group Training Team. This role works with the NCH Medical Group recruiter to screen, expedite, and facilitate interviews with NCH Medical Group Leadership. Demonstrates a track record of accomplishment in scheduling, hiring, and is ultimately responsible for overseeing the processes required to ensure adequate staffing for the NCH Medical Group Practices. This position is also responsible for the management and development of staff programs including clinical and clerical team members, as well as continued development and implementation of new educational programs to support the NCH Medical Group team. This role manages the NCH Medical Group Training Team, development of NCH Medical Group New Employee Orientation and subsequent training sessions for clinical and clerical team members in multispecialty practices. This role participates in the management of all training materials, assessment of workflows, and broad implementation of standards and protocols. This individual is responsible for communicating deficiencies and strengths in individuals, teams, and practices to Operations Team. This role oversees the coordination of all orientation and training activity including practice leadership facilitators and corporate partners, as well as the EPIC quarterly upgrades that directly impact both clinical and clerical workflows.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Responsible for managing the NCH Medical Group float pool. Screens, interviews, hires, and ensures complete training for full-time and per diem clinical and non-clinical float staff. Completes annual appraisals. Works in conjunction with NCH Medical Group Leadership to identify weekly float needs and schedules float staff appropriately. Provides feedback to leadership regarding par levels for float staff. Completes timekeeping for the NCH Medical Group Float Staff. Responsible for the NCH Medical Group Float Staff Cost Center to allocate float time to the appropriate cost centers.
· Works in tandem with the NCH Medical Group Recruiter and Practice Managers to help identify appropriate clinical and non-clinical talent for NCH Medical Group Practices. Screens applicants as appropriate to determine preferred location, schedule, and environment for candidates and works with NCH Medical Group Practice Managers to schedule group interviews as appropriate. Follows up regularly with Practice Managers on outstanding needs to identify optimal talent and works with the NCH Medical Group recruiter to fill vacancies. Monitors response time for HR and NCH Medical Group Practice Managers to ensure timely processing of applicants.
· Ensures proper timekeeping processes for NCH Medical Group, including accurate coding for float pay. Monitors NCH Medical Group float pool attendance to ensure that NCH attendance policies are followed and works with Practice Managers and the NCH Medical Group HR Business Manager to hold staff accountable per the policy.
· Works with HR to develop relationships with local schools and training programs to build pipelines for staffing needs within NCH Medical Group.
Staff Development
· Identifies, develops, and implements new educational courses to meet the needs of the NCH Medical Group team.
· Order and maintain supplies needed for classrooms.
· Uses appropriate assessment and evaluation tools to ensure learning outcomes are being met.
· Maintains high standards of professionalism and models positive behavior for both new and float staff.
· Demonstrates strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
Training
· Responsible for oversight of NCH Medical Group Training Team-annual evaluations, timekeeping, and scheduling.
· Oversight of coordination of all NCH Medical Group orientation activity to include space coordination and scheduling of facilitators.
· Continuous assessment of orientation, educational materials, training locations and facilitators.
· Partner with Organizational Development to identify mechanisms for NCH Medical Group to participate in development activity.
· Identify opportunities to utilize NCH System education.
· Oversee the review of orientation surveys and provide feedback or alter program as appropriate.
·Oversee and participate in application review, update, or transition preparation and activity.
· Develop plans for the new and ongoing training, maintenance and optimization of practice processes and applications.
· Develop standardized processes, policies, and procedures for NCH Medical Group Ambulatory practices.
· Oversee the proper usage of the various systems and applications to ensure efficiency and accuracy in ambulatory workflows.
· Create and maintain quality training/testing materials used for all staff, including materials for all EPIC upgrade changes specific to the clinical and clerical staff.
· Maintains, improves, and manages educational content. Continues to monitor and improve the effectiveness of ongoing education programs. Incorporates measurement tools to measure employee level of understanding. Develops Beginner & Advanced refresher classes.
· Evaluates usefulness and usability of standard applications and content.
· Performs special projects; analyzes processes and related data to recommend automation and workflow improvements.
· Attends applicable classes, seminars, and web-based training courses for continued education.
· Demonstrates accountability for time, performance, and productivity.
· Performs random audits and reviews to ensure effectiveness of training and education; re-educates when applicable and informs Management of staff issues beyond his/her scope of responsibility.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum · of Associates Degree with 2 years’ experience OR High School/GED with 5 years’ experience in healthcare, with a broad understanding of practice workflows, practice management/clinical process, and in-depth understanding of the impact of these workflows and processes on overall practice performance.
· Must have working knowledge and demonstrated experience leading training classes, presenting healthcare related topics, and delivering presentations to a broad and varied knowledge-based audience.
· Must be able to prioritize and work independently.
· Good customer services and communication skills.
· Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
