JOB SUMMARY
The Manager of Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) is responsible for the operational, clinical, and administrative leadership of the Maternal Fetal Medicine program for NCH Comprehensive Health. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care for high-risk obstetric patients while supporting physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, sonographers, and support staff. The Manager collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to achieve clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, and continuous process improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical & Operational Leadership
· Oversees day-to-day operations of the Maternal Fetal Medicine practice, including clinic flow, scheduling, staffing, and patient access.
· Ensures delivery of safe, high-quality care for high-risk obstetric patients in accordance with evidence-based standards and organizational policies.
· Supports MFM physicians and advanced practice providers by optimizing workflows and removing operational barriers to care delivery.
· Coordinates care across multiple settings (clinic, hospital, imaging, and specialty services).
Staff Management & Development
· Recruits, hires, trains, evaluates, and retains clinical and administrative staff
· Provides coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
· Ensures competency, licensure, certification, and continuing education requirements are met.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
· Promotes compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, ACR, OSHA, HIPAA).
· Leads quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
· Monitors clinical quality metrics, patient experience data, safety events, and corrective action plans.
· Supports accreditation requirements for ultrasound and maternal-fetal diagnostic services.
Financial & Resource Management
· Develops and manages departmental budgets, including staffing, supplies, and capital requests.
· Monitors productivity, volume trends, and financial performance.
· Identifies opportunities for cost containment and revenue optimization.
· Oversees inventory and equipment maintenance for MFM and diagnostic services.
Collaboration & Strategic Planning
· Works closely with obstetrics, neonatology, nursing leadership, imaging, and ancillary departments.
· Participates in strategic planning, program growth initiatives, and service line development.
· Serves as a liaison between physicians, administration, and hospital leadership.
· Supports implementation of new services, technologies, and care models.
Patient Experience
· Promotes a compassionate, patient-centered environment for individuals and families facing high-risk pregnancies.
· Addresses patient concerns and escalated issues in a timely and professional manner.
· Ensures culturally competent care and effective communication across the continuum.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum of bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred.
· Minimum of 4 years’ experience in healthcare or leadership
· Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, and writing communication skills required.
· The ability to relate and deal effectively with physicians, administrators, support staff, and the public with a high degree of tact and discretion required.
· Intermediate computer knowledge: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows
