JOB SUMMARY
The Administrative Director of Respiratory and Cardiac Rehabilitation is responsible for the 24 hour, 7 day a week function of the Respiratory Care, Neuro-diagnostics, Cardiac Rehab, and Pulmonary Rehab departments of at each location of the NCH HealthCare System. The Director, in coordination with the accounting department, develops the annual budgetary requirements of each department and is accountable for variances throughout the fiscal year. Works to foster continuing education programs to ensure competent and safe patient care is provided and utilizes performance improvement tools to measure outcomes and departmental efficiencies. The Director will work to foster collaborative relationships within the organization in order to create opportunities to enhance patient care and work flow processes. When required provides counseling and evaluation of employees. Provides oversight of the supply ordering process, inventory management and routine maintenance of equipment. Each unique clinical area will be operated in accordance with JCAHO guidelines and recommendations set forth by each disciplines formally recognized clinical affiliation such as the AARC, ASE, AASM, and the AACVPR.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· In coordination with the accounting department, develops the annual budget forecast requirements of each department and is accountable for variances throughout the fiscal year. |
· Fosters collaborative relationships within the organization in order to create opportunities to enhance patient care and workflow processes.
· Provides counseling and evaluation of employees in accordance with NCH policy & procedure.
· Promotes recruitment and retention of employees.
· Works to foster continuing education programs to ensure competent and safe patient care is provided.
· Works with the medical staff to enhance patient care programs, improve departmental processes and improve physician satisfaction.
· Provides oversight of the supply ordering process, inventory management and routine maintenance of equipment.
· Reports and discusses Performance Improvement Data with Chief Operations Officer.
· Ensures that all clinical areas meet or exceed standards set forth by the following agencies where applicable, JCAHO, HRS, AASM, ASC, AACVPR, and CAP.
· Conducts regular staff meetings to discuss policy review, quality issues, procedure changes and patient care issues/ review.
· Develops and implements strategies for cost containment, expenses and revenue generation program.
· Ensures that all medical devices are kept in safe working order and that each device receives annual preventative maintenance.
· Adjusts staffing level according to workload to maintain appropriate & safe staffing levels. Staffing will be based on historical financial data, benchmark data, and time & workload standards recommended by a nationally recognized clinical body such as the AARC, ASE, AACVPR, etc.
· Is sensitive to the fiscal goals of the NCH Healthcare System and strives to meet financial goals set forth by the Board of Directors and the Administrative Team.
· Provides mechanisms for an assist in the professional growth and education of staff.
· Maintains accurate personnel files that include required documentation regarding competency, attendance and mandatories.
· Promotes NO SMOKING policy and monitors smoking cessation programs.
· Completes reports, evaluations, documentation in a reasonable amount of time or within time frame designated by Chief Operations Officer.
· Attends required meetings seminars.
· Assumes responsibility for attaining required amount of CEU’s, keeps up to date on trends and guidelines in all clinical areas served.
· Maintains department standards, policies and procedures in compliance with JCAHO.
· Departments of responsibility have no Type I deficiencies on JCAHO Survey.
· Maintains safety / OSHA guidelines for the department and has no citations from Public Health or OSHA/
· Maintains ABG system that meets CAP standards for point of care testing. Work in collaboration with NCH POCT Coordinator.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in Health Care, which includes 3 years of supervisory/management experience required.
· Must be a graduate of a 2 year accredited Registered Therapy Program.
· Must be a licensed Respiratory Therapist in the state of FL (RT).
· Must hold a current Florida DPR license.
· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
· Must be Registered (RRT) by the NBRC.
· Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
