JOB SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Technician Certified/ Assistant Buyer is responsible for completion of tasks as delegated by the pharmacist in accordance with the Federal law. Such technician responsibilities will include any or all the following: medication order entry, medication delivery, IV admixture compounding including cytotoxic and medium risk compounding. Acudose operation, NarcVault operation, order check-in, filling stock requisitions, filling orders, inventory management, ADT maintenance, computer/printing operation and maintenance, operation of pneumatic tubes, and crediting returned medications. Assists the Pharmacy Buyer with material acquisition of pharmaceuticals. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

· Assists the pharmacy buyer in maintaining a smooth and uninterrupted flow of stock, including management of back orders.

· Inter-Department Billing – Responsible for monthly Interdepartmental Billing for hospital departments purchasing through the pharmacy department.

· Verifies statements and purchase orders for payment to all pharmacy vendors.

· Helps to maintain and update the McKesson Automatic Connect Rx database assuring that listed drugs have proper Description, Barcode and Charge Mater Numbers for use with Robot, MedCarousel, Acudose and Parmnet.

· Maintains a quality control system to ensure that all drugs are properly barcoded prior to being dispensed.

· Responsible for addition and deletions of medications for Robot or Med Carousel inventories based on usage and average.

· Drug recalls – Help maintain manufacture drug recall logbook.

· Inventory Control – Assists in maintaining a 10-day offline inventory for the Robot.

· Responsible for controlled substance inventory management utilizing the NarcVault automation as well as assisting in resolving discrepancies.

· Compounds IV admixtures accurately using aseptic technique, involving cytoxic and medium risk compounding.

· Assists the technician supervisor with training staff.

· Fills stock requisitions and patient medication orders accurately.

· Performs AcuDose operations (refills, returns, reports, etc.) without discrepancies/errors.

· Accurately completes computer functions (Pharmnet/Powerchart, printer operation, charges/credits).

· Completes assigned tasks in a reasonable time frame. Work habits are structures to generate the optimum level of productivity within the department.

· Willingness provides assistance to other pharmacy areas when asked to do so by Director/Assistant Director or pharmacist on duty.

· Gives appropriate information to caller, or relays questions as appropriate to a pharmacist. Provides feedback regarding problems and complaints and offers constructive suggestions.

· Possesses working knowledge of the automation systems (Robot, Connect RX, Med Carousel, NarcVault).

· Manages multiple requests and projects at the same time and appropriately prioritizes customer service

    · operations & project requests.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

    · Minimum of High School/GED.

    · Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Florida.

    · Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Licensed Pharmacy Technician required.

    · National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) within 90 days of hire.

      · Basic computer knowledge: ability to operate a PC, create/save/print documents, input data.
