JOB SUMMARY
The Scheduler Lead OR is responsible for establishing an advanced computerized surgery schedule for both NCH and NOCH Operating Rooms. Additionally, the Lead scheduler will: Audit and reporting Physician block utilization to OR Committee. Liaison to Physician office Managers regarding block compliance and scheduling guidelines. Ensuring consistent scheduling practices across the system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
– Other duties may be assigned.
· Obtains accurate demographic, financial and surgical procedure data for every patient scheduled.
· Recognizes scheduling conflicts due to surgeon, procedure or equipment and reports to charge nurse for resolution.
· Works closely with OR Clinical Coordinators in preparation of next day’s surgery schedule.
· Confirm OR schedule with Anesthesia Dept. and distribute post-op reconciliation reports to Anesthesia business office.
· Assures accurate Physician Block utilization reporting. Recommends allocation of time and liaison with office managers regarding rules and compliance
· Assures data entry to MTDS to meet FDA required tracking.
· Maintains surgeon’s files for accurate tracking of case procedure times. Coordinates with Service Leaders for preference card entry and maintenance
· Submits monthly block utilization report from NCH and NOCH to the OR Committee.
· Notify business office of self-pay scheduling and uncompensated cosmetic procedures.
· Runs daily reports for service leaders and equipment coordinators to anticipate supply demand. Conflict checks equipment used across system.
· Actively assists and supports departmental activities to ensure that operational and salary expenses are equal to or less than approved budget.
· Understands the principles and concepts of Performance Improvement. Looks for opportunities and solutions for process improvements and seeks to improve job skills.
· Maintains the principles of confidentiality and HIPPA. Understands the legal/regulatory requirements related to the release of information. Able to use the information systems pertinent to the job.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum of High School or GED required.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical office scheduling with surgical services with demonstrated leadership skills.
· Excellent computer skills and knowledge with software programs and projects.
· Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
