JOB SUMMARY
The RN Clinical Resource independently plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care in the patient undergoing cardiac imaging. Provides direct nursing care to patients, assumes teaching and leadership responsibilities for cardiac imaging program (CCTA testing) and Observation Flow through the system. Additionally, is a resource to care for team members including but not limited to nursing staff, physicians, and allied health professionals. The RN Clinical Resource ensures that services provided are in alignment with current clinical practice guidelines, keeping the patient as the primary focus. This position requires theoretical and practical knowledge of the observation patient status vs Inpatient status.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Expedites care for patients admitted with chest pain.
· Administers medications and facilitates throughput for the cardiac imaging program.
· Utilizes appropriate resources to plan and provide nursing services for patients undergoing CCTA testing.
· Coordinates care delivery of the CCTA patient.
· Attains knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice.
· Reviews medical history for CCTA and acts accordingly through a nurse driven protocol.
· Shares knowledge and expertise regarding evidenced based practices in Observation status admits.
· Rounds through the system to proactively monitor observation patients to promote timely discharges and appropriate follow up care.
· Works closely with physicians, nursing staff and other leaders throughout the organization, to appropriately promote patient flow.
· Collaborates with the care team to develop and implement policies and standards that promote the Observation program goals.
· Assists with tracking the progress and identifying areas that require improvement. Actively participates in the Patient Flow Committee meetings and any ad hoc observation or cardiac imaging meetings.
· Performs concurrent and retrospective chart reviews and data abstraction. Maintains databases in a timely manner, assists in data tracking and trending. Participates in educational development and quality projects.
· Assists staff in identifying variances and solutions.
· Communicates with PCP regarding patient observation admission status, and progression.
· Promotes patient, family and physician satisfaction and is accountable for patient care delivery through appropriate resource utilization, active communication/follow up with team members and promoting clinical quality initiatives.
· Works autonomously, possesses excellent problem-solving skills and can complete assigned duties with timeframe given.
· Maintains clinical knowledge and skill for the Observation patient population. Show a commitment to ongoing personal and professional growth through internal and external learning opportunities.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or presently in school for Bachelor’s with a completion within 2 years.
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a registered nurse in acute care setting required; Observation patient experience preferred.
· Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Florida.
· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
· Excellent analytic, organizational and communication skills are essential.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
· Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows
