JOB SUMMARY
The People Engagement Specialist (PES), under the leadership of the Director – People & Engagement, helps to facilitate the procedures and workflow of the People & Culture Business Partner team. This individual should be “customer obsessed” in creating a “wow” experience in every employee interaction, being a champion to assist in employee engagement and retention.
The PES serves as a trusted and collaborative partner, assisting the Director – People & Engagement in providing a proactive, practical, and valued People & Culture perspective in partnership with organizational leadership. The PES provides appropriate feedback to the Director – People & Engagement as appropriate. They possess strong skills in building relationships, engaging employees, and always maintain a calm and professional demeanor related to aspects of people-management and leadership.
The PES holds oversight for timely documentation, team metrics, and projects as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assists the Director – People & Engagement in coaching, counseling, career development, policy interpretation and application with leadership and employees.
· Implements employee engagement programs and initiatives and collaborates with departments regarding HR strategies to build the culture of NCH becoming the employer of choice and a “great place to work.” Leads projects related to preparation and administration of programs for employee engagement and retention.
· Manages timelines and organization of content for training programs led by the People & Culture business management team.
· Creates and maintains dashboards of team metrics, including information on employee relations issues, NCH team member training, and grievance process procedures. Schedules roundtables, training sessions, and other meetings as required by the team.
· Stays up to date on the interpretation of policies, assuring consistent administration. Partners with People & Culture Colleagues to implement and administer policies and programs. Assists in education and training on policies and compliance.
· Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting comply.
· Rounds all NCH facilities regularly and escalates and addresses issues and risks. Provides a perspective of business needs and requirements to the Director – People & Engagement. May serve as a super user of HR technology systems such as Infor, Kronos, and Fovea.
· Assists in effective, thorough, and objective investigations and prepares documentation as required.
· Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with legal department as needed/required.
· Acts as liaison to ensure that Orientation and competency validation are developed and provided to each employee in a new role and submitted with their 90-day evaluation.
· Actively participates in system upgrades, new modules implementation, process and system designs as needed.
· Collaborates with, is cross trained in, and performs basic job duties of other People & Culture staff. Serves as a People & Culture professional and can assist customers in all basic People & Culture functions.
· Provides backup to other People & Culture positions as appropriate and needed.
· Perform as an essential employee for the People & Culture Department. Essential employees are those who have critical functions to support the organization during and immediately after a weather disaster or pandemic. Essential employees are expected to report for duty as scheduled.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree and 1 year experience in human resources or Associate’s degree and 4 years’ experience in human resources required, varying areas of human resources and healthcare preferred.
· Requires a sound working knowledge of statistical concepts and data collection procedures.
· Understanding of HRIS and Payroll systems; preferably Infor.
· Must be able to prepare and analyze reports and presentations and present ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
· Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the analytical ability to solve problems and issues.
· High level of proficiency with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook required.
· Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills required.
· Self-motivated to be organized, achieve high performance standards, and accept accountability for performance.
· Experience balancing a dynamic workload with constantly changing priorities, deadlines, and project scopes.
