ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The New Graduate Registered Nurse is a licensed nurse with less than one year of acute care experience. Upon hire, the New Graduate Registered Nurse is referred to as a Nurse Resident and is automatically enrolled into the Nurse Residency Program.
The Nurse Residency Program is a year long program that consists of in-person classes called seminars. The seminars are held once a month for four hours and Nurse Residents are required to attend each seminar and attend make-up seminars if one is missed. Seminars are led by Master’s prepared Nurse Educators and various subject matter experts from different disciplines within the healthcare system. Content is delivered via lecture, simulation, hands-on skills, role play, gamification and immersion room experiences. Each seminar consists of a different topic(s), including, but not limited to the following:
Additionally, Nurse Residents will be required to research a healthcare related topic, and present an Evidence Based Practice project at the twelfth and final month of the program.
Nurse Residents hired onto a medical/surgical, cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, oncologic, or observation unit will attend three days of nursing skills at the beginning of their onboarding process, which runs concurrently with the Nurse Residency Program and clinical time with a preceptor on a unit.
