JOB SUMMARY
The Coordinator GYN Oncology Procedures is a specifically trained individual who demonstrates expertise in dealing with cancer patients. As first impressions are lasting, it is imperative that our personnel portray patience, understanding, professionalism, compassion and accuracy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
– Other duties may be assigned.
· Schedule and co-ordinate surgery and radiology procedures between patient, physician and hospitals.
· Obtain authorizations for chemotherapy and port flushes as needed.
· Extensive contact with Physicians, Patients, Hospitals and Insurance companies.
· Schedule all surgeries and radiology procedures at hospitals and/or radiology offices.
· Communicating to patients’ all pre-operative and pre-radiology workup and testing.
· Maintain timely communication with patients, hospital departments and physician offices.
· Obtain all authorizations for surgeries and radiology procedures.
· Maintain contact between referring offices for the purpose of coordinating surgery assists if necessary.
· Maintain surgery schedule in book and in computer so that Physicians can access their surgery schedules.
· Verify that insurance information is accurate prior to scheduling.
· Coordinate with the financial counselor to communicate financial responsibilities with the patients prior to surgery.
· Other duties as assigned by Practice Manager
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum High school graduate or equivalent.
· Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office setting required.
· Prior experience of medical insurance/authorization process.
· Excellent organization and interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task.
· Superior computer and telephone skills.
· Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
