JOB SUMMARY

Naples Comprehensive Healthcare (NCH) and Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) have partnered to develop a state-of-the-art musculoskeletal (MSK) center, providing orthopedic care through the surgical and non-surgical care spectrum. This dynamic setting offers the opportunity for the Certified Hand Therapist to practice in an environment where the clientele ranges from recreational to competitively active, and to work in close proximity to the wrist and hand surgeons to promote best practice and quality of care for patients.

Candidates need to be experienced in adult outpatient orthopedic hand therapy and physical or occupational therapy with knowledge of upper extremity surgeries and post-operative guidelines for hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder, including in-depth understanding and experience in custom splinting. Outstanding communication skills and the ability to work well in a team are also vital. The Certified Hand Therapist will report directly to the HSS at NCH Rehabilitation Manager for the MSK Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Candidate must be a nimble self-starter; dynamic and flexible to meet the needs of a new collaboration both on the initial launch phase and ongoing.

· Collaboration with leadership to develop goals for orthopedic rehabilitation services in line with the HSS brand and culture to ensures consistency across the enterprise

· Positive role models, inspiring enthusiasm and commitment to excellence and demonstrates behaviors which reflect the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct.

· Conduct comprehensive evaluations of upper extremity conditions, identifying impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities to guide treatment planning.

· Review medical, psychosocial, vocational, and lifestyle factors that may influence rehabilitation outcomes, while adhering to case-specific precautions.

· Collaborate with patients and referring providers to establish individualized prognoses and plans of care, in alignment with third-party payer guidelines.

· Develop and routinely update patient education materials and home exercise programs to enhance understanding, promote engagement, and support long-term recovery.

· Design and fabricate custom orthoses efficiently and effectively, ensuring proper fit, function, and adherence to clinical principles for both conservative and post-surgical cases.

· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of hand therapy techniques, splinting innovations, and clinical trends through peer collaboration, physician communication, and ongoing independent study.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

    · Minimum of Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy.

    · Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience, including at least 2 years in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation (or as required to meet CHT eligibility).

    · Licensed Certified Hand Therapist.

    · Licensed Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist in the state of Florida.

    · Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

    · Clinical experience and expertise in custom splinting for orthopedic upper extremity procedures

    · Excellent time management skills

    · Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    · Strong problem-solving skills
