JOB SUMMARY
The Anesthesia Technician supports the Anesthesia Department and Nursing staff in the Operating Room, by providing supplies/equipment to ensure smooth delivery of anesthesia to the patient during surgery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned.
· Daily maintenance of all anesthesia machines to include cleaning and restocking.
· Performs periodic anesthesia machine maintenance to include changing of soda lime, CO2 lines and moisture traps.
· Maintains pediatric cart and restocks after each use.
· Maintains difficult intubation cart and cleans scope, restocks after each use.
· Maintains central line cart and restocks after each use.
· Maintains malignant hyperthermia cart and restocks after each use.
· Orders supplies for Anesthesia Department, maintaining adequate par levels and checks supplies for outdates.
· Checks orders for accuracy and puts supplies away in a timely manner.
· Assists anesthesia providers as needed in the Operating Room and all pediatric cases.
· Is able to obtain anesthesia equipment and supplies during emergency procedures in a timely manner.
· Obtains medications from satellite pharmacy as requested by anesthesia providers. (Naples campus only)
· Restock supplies in the department as needed, this is to include medications, IV fluids and biologicals with the exception of narcotics.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum of High School or GED required.
· Healthcare experience preferred.
· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
· Knowledge and Principles of Aseptic Technique preferred.
· Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
