JOB SUMMARY
The Rehabilitation Technician is a non-licensed employee whose primary functions are to help Rehabilitation Services as directed in carrying out established treatment under appropriate supervision, transport patients and to perform tasks which assist in maintain routine operations of the work area they are assigned to. Competency exams are completed successfully to ensure high quality level skills and knowledge.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Demonstrates the skill, judgment and knowledge base to work effectively with different age groups. Demonstrates competency in all procedures within scope of practice as appropriate to the ages of patients served; the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs. Consistently incorporate knowledge of growth and development issues into interacting with patient. Is aware of the resources available for different patient population.
· Implements standardized rehabilitation treatment tools as directed and supervised by therapist.
· Able to select, monitor, and modify appropriate equipment/procedure within the guidelines of the rehabilitation standards of care and under the direct supervision of the therapist.
· Assists in patient/family teaching using individualized effective training methods, and consistently involves patient and family in the process.
· Relates the outcome of care to therapist to determine if patient’s needs/goals were met.
· Consistently compares patient/family response to projected outcome and relates concerns to therapist.
· Following through with duties/assignments asked of them and seeks guidance appropriately while producing high quality work on a constant basis.
· Actively pursues and utilizes all available resources to gain insight and knowledge into all operations of the department/NCH.
· Provides assistance to other departments in understanding the procedures and practices of the department/NCH. Refers other departments to appropriate staff for information and assistance.
· Provides guidance, support and teaching to internal and external customers.
· Demonstrate competency in all rehabilitation technician procedures and equipment.
· Follow ethical/clinical practices utilizing guidelines established by their professional organization and NCH Healthcare System.
· Recognizes and reports potential liability. Identifies the need, initiates training and utilizes the support safety and infection control procedures including universal precautions, proper body mechanics/guarding and OSHA regulations and addresses awareness of potential concerns and how to handle concerns related to equipment, patient/family, environment and surroundings.
· Operates assigned equipment and performs all procedures in a safe cost effective manner.
· Consistently maintain timely, complete and accurate written documentation as defined in policies and procedures.
· Consistently and accurately completes staff/patient therapy schedules without error.
· Delivers all verbal reports in a professional manner emphasizing objectivity and in a non-judgment viewpoint.
· Exhibits organizational skills and structures work habits/environment to accomplish task in a timely manner to allow for optimal levels of productivity.
· Completes acceptable patient care volume based on standard ensuring all patient care quality standards are met.
· Anticipates, follows through and completes all routine assignments without supervisory intervention.
· Handles change within the work environment adequately and appropriately.
· Reports and completes all patient care information needed when a team member will be following up with patient for treatment.
· Uses chain-of-command for problem solving and conflict resolution.
· Demonstrates positive and effective interaction skills through verbal and non-verbal communication with patients, families, peers, superiors and physicians.
· Accepts responsibility for own learning needs. Attends courses, in-services, mandatories, complete competencies, and has working knowledge of current policies.
· Participates in setting action plans and outcome indicators that determine what needs to be done, when and by whom participates in plan implementation and tracks results of the action plan.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required.
· No experience required.
