JOB SUMMARY

Ultrasound and Vascular department demonstrate competence in ultrasound and vascular technology. Assigns staff to work assignments and coordinates equipment maintenance throughout the NCH Healthcare System. Acts as a liaison for patient care activities with outside departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

– Other duties may be assigned.

· Proficient in imaging of the Upper and Lower extremity venous system for DVT.

· Performs all Critical Care requests within departments time guidelines.

· Performs Arterial Imaging of the Abdomen, Upper and Lower Extremities.

· Proficient in Carotid/Vertebral Imaging.

· Performs Indirect Arterial testing of the Upper and Lower Extremities to include PVR’s (Pulse Volume Recordings), Segmental Doppler Waveforms, and Segmental Pressures pre & post exercise.

· Performs Graft imaging, venous imaging, and extremity mapping of the Upper and Lower Extremities.

· Assures timely accomplishment of assignments and ensures they meet organizational objectives.

· Follows standard precautions.

· Support and follows policies for the Radiography Student Program.

· Provides all aspects of patient care based on established standards.

· Demonstrates competency in all procedures within scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of patients served; the ability to obtain information.

· Interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs; knowledge of growth and development and understanding of the range of treatment of the patients.

· Adequate assessment of department and staffing needs.

· Maintain all equipment in good operating condition, making sure all repairs are completed in an acceptable timeframe.

· Demonstrates competency using the PACS.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

    · High School or GED required.

    · Satisfactory completion of a formal Ultrasound Program in an approved school required.

    · 2 years of experience in Vascular Ultrasound.

    · 2 years minimum management experience preferred.

    · Certified with ARDMS and registered in RVT.

    · Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

    · Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
