JOB SUMMARY

The Coordinator Patient Care GYN Oncology plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless and compassionate experience for oncology patients and their families. This position is responsible for coordinating patient care activities, managing scheduling, verifying insurance, and serving as a liaison between the patient, clinical team, and outside providers. The Patient Coordinator supports the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care through proactive communication, organization, and problem-solving.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Serve as the primary point of contact for oncology patients, guiding them through appointments, treatments, follow-ups, and referrals.

· Coordinate new patient intake, including medical record collection, referral processing, and appointment scheduling.

· Maintain and update patient records and documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system.

· Work closely with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely care coordination and treatment planning.

· Schedule diagnostic tests, lab work, and imaging services, ensuring patients understand preparation requirements.

· Verify insurance eligibility, obtain authorizations and referrals, and communicate financial responsibilities to patients.

· Provide emotional support and empathetic communication, especially during times of distress or uncertainty.

· Help patients understand their treatment plans, timelines, and next steps by serving as a consistent resource.

· Track and follow up on no-shows, reschedules, or outstanding tests or referrals to support continuity of care.

· Participate in department meetings and contribute to quality improvement efforts.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

    · Minimum High school graduate or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration or a related field preferred.

    · Minimum 2 years of experience in a healthcare or oncology setting required.

    · Knowledge of medical terminology, especially in oncology, is highly desirable.

    · Proficient in using EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and Microsoft Office Suite.

    · Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    · Ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally sensitive environment with empathy and professionalism.

    · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
