JOB SUMMARY

The Resuscitation Education & Training Center Coordinator supports the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of system-wide resuscitation education, competency validation, simulation, and clinical certification programs. The role serves as a subject matter expert and collaborative resource for clinical educators, nursing and interdisciplinary leaders, the Simulation Center, and organizational committees to promote evidence-based practice, regulatory readiness, and high-quality emergency response across the healthcare system.

The coordinator manages American Heart Association (AHA) and/or American Red Cross (ARC) training programs, supports instructor and faculty development, facilitates simulation and mock-code education, and uses educational and performance data to identify opportunities to improve staff preparedness and resuscitation performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Resuscitation Education & Certification Program

· Plans, implements, facilitates, and evaluates system-wide resuscitation education and clinical certification programs in accordance with organizational requirements and applicable American Heart Association (AHA) and/or American Red Cross (ARC) standards.

· Serves as a subject matter expert and resource for resuscitation education, emergency response training, and clinical competency across campuses, service lines, and departments.

· Maintains knowledge of current AHA and/or ARC program administration requirements and implements changes necessary to ensure compliance with Training Center expectations, educational standards, and applicable accreditation requirements.

· Coordinates and supports the resuscitation instructor and faculty network, including onboarding, mentoring, continuing professional development, instructor monitoring, and adherence to applicable Training Center requirements.

· Maintains required instructor, course, learner, certification, and program documentation and ensures accurate issuance and tracking of course completion records and credentials.

· Supports the appropriate stewardship, readiness, and utilization of resuscitation training equipment, simulation resources, educational technology, and associated program resources.

Clinical Educator Partnership & Faculty Development

· Partners with clinical educators and service-line leaders to identify resuscitation-related learning, competency, and performance needs and to develop standardized educational solutions that can be implemented consistently across the organization.

· Serves as a consultative resource to clinical educators in the development, implementation, and evaluation of resuscitation and emergency-response education, simulation, skills validation, and competency activities.

· Develops standardized educator resources and toolkits, including lesson plans, simulation scenarios, competency-validation tools, facilitator guides, debriefing resources, and other materials that support consistent education across clinical areas.

· Provides train-the-trainer and faculty-development opportunities for clinical educators and resuscitation faculty, strengthening capabilities in simulation facilitation, structured debriefing, resuscitation education, competency validation, and emergency-response training.

· Supports clinical educators in distinguishing among education, competency-validation, and performance-improvement needs and in selecting appropriate learning and assessment methodologies based on the identified practice gap.

· Supports educator development in evidence-based educational practice, including measurable learning objectives, instructional methodologies, learner assessment, and evaluation of educational outcomes.

· Reviews resuscitation-related education and competency materials for alignment with current evidence, organizational policy, applicable standards, and established educational-design principles, collaborating with educators to reduce unnecessary variation and duplication.

Simulation, Mock Codes & Clinical Readiness

· Designs and facilitates evidence-based simulation, mock-code, and competency activities that incorporate measurable objectives, appropriate facilitation methods, structured debriefing, and evaluation of learner performance.

· Coordinates system-wide mock-code programming in partnership with clinical educators, including scenario development, scheduling, facilitation, debriefing, data collection, trend identification, and follow-up education.

· Partners with clinical educators to identify high-risk, low-frequency clinical events appropriate for simulation, deliberate practice, or competency validation and develops education based on organizational priorities and identified risks.

· Serves as the designated AHA and/or ARC Training Center Coordinator and ensures ongoing compliance with applicable Training Center requirements, policies, procedures, program administration standards, quality-assurance expectations, instructor alignment processes, course-monitoring requirements, and record-retention standards.

· Coordinates communication between the organization and AHA and/or ARC, including program updates, site reviews, audits, monitoring activities, and implementation of required program changes.

· Develops and maintains organization-specific resuscitation education addressing applicable policies, emergency-response processes, equipment, team roles, escalation pathways, and identified performance opportunities.

· Collaborates with clinical educators on orientation and ongoing professional-development curricula to ensure resuscitation readiness and emergency-response expectations are incorporated at appropriate points throughout the employee learning continuum.

Quality Improvement, Outcomes & Standardization

· Collaborates with clinical educators to translate findings from actual resuscitation events, mock codes, simulations, safety events, and performance-improvement activities into targeted educational interventions.

· Oversees Training Center quality and operational readiness, including instructor and faculty alignment, instructor agreements, quality-assurance activities, corrective action and remediation, course documentation, audit preparedness, and required reporting to maintain Training Center status and good standing with AHA and/or ARC.

· Uses learner evaluations, simulation findings, mock-code observations, competency data, and other relevant performance information to identify trends and recommend improvements.

· Supports standardization of resuscitation education and competency expectations across campuses and service lines while allowing appropriate adaptation for specialty populations and clinical environments.

· Provides clinical educators with resuscitation-related data and identified trends to support annual education planning, competency assessment, regulatory readiness, and continuous performance improvement.

· Participates in interdisciplinary quality-improvement initiatives and applicable resuscitation and code committees to support translation of identified opportunities into education and practice.

· Collaborates with Professional Practice, Quality, Risk, clinical leadership, and interdisciplinary partners to ensure education addresses identified organizational risks, practice changes, regulatory requirements, and opportunities for improvement.

· Maintains a centralized repository of current resuscitation education, simulation scenarios, competency tools, and educator resources to promote consistency, accessibility, and version control.

· Maintains current knowledge of resuscitation science, healthcare simulation standards, adult-learning principles, regulatory expectations, and evidence-based professional-development practices.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Master’s degree in Nursing, Informatics, Education, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.

· Current, active Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license required.

· Minimum of 2 years of experience in simulation, training, or formal education within a healthcare setting required.

· Minimum of 2 years of experience as an AHA and/or ARC Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support instructor required.

· Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.

· Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.

· Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross preferred.

· Proficiency with Microsoft 365, learning-management systems, virtual learning platforms, and applicable resuscitation-training technology required.
